Martin R. Feldhaus

August 31, 1973 — August 13, 2023

Martin R. Feldhaus, age 49, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in Bridgeton, Missouri surrounded in love by family. He was born in Florissant, Missouri on August 31, 1973 to Gerald and Jeanette Feldhaus (nee Barnes).

To truly know Marty was to love him. He lit up every room he entered with his bright smile and tight, welcoming hugs. He worked hard to make everyone he met feel seen, heard and special.

Marty's number one priority in all aspects of life was his family. His pride in his three children, Jerry, Skyler and Kennedy, and his grandchildren was unmatched. It was rare to have a conversation with him that did not include a moment of pride featuring the highlights of how well they were doing and what he loved most about them. Marty equally loved his parents, Jerry and Jeanette and made sure to regularly call them to say hello, grab a weekend lunch or show up for the friendly, competitive ritual of Thursday night cards.

As a partner, Marty will be forever adored by his true love, Danielle, for the heart connection they shared, the perfect love he showed her and the way they were able to bring out the very best in each other.

A fiercely proud member of Local 1, Marty dedicated his professional energy to the craft of Heat and Frost Insulation for the past 32 years. You would be hard pressed to find another who lived, breathed and defended the Union as he did, or someone who was more dedicated to making sure apprentices and other newcomers understood the importance of loyalty to the brotherhood.

Marty had a life long love affair with Main Street St. Charles, heavy metal music, anything with skulls on it, making goofy faces to make you laugh, spontaneously breaking into song, talking to strangers, recovery and giving the best hugs ever.

He leaves a legacy of kindness, a commitment to the recovery community, a heart for people and unparalleled hugs that will forever remain with those of us fortunate enough to know him.

We are forever grateful for the double rainbow he sent the evening he passed, reminding us that the light and color he brought to our lives will always find a way to break through the darkness.

Marty is survived by his fiancée, Danielle Elliott Smith; his children, Gerald Thomas Feldhaus II, Skyler Brown-Feldhaus, and Kennedy Feldhaus; his grandchildren, Sophia, Evelyn, Ahlaya and Kalvin; his parents, Gerald and Jeanette; and his brother, Damon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Stacy L. Beck.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm, all on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Louis CRUSH (Community Resources United to Stop Heroin), an organization Marty joined Danielle in supporting by volunteering his time and aligning his commitment to helping those in need of resources and the reminder they are loved and valued while seeking recovery.
