Marvin Neumann

April 25, 1927 — July 17, 2023

Marvin Walter Neumann, age 96, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 in Ellisville, Missouri. He was born in Burlington, Wisconsin on April 25, 1927 to Philip and Gertrude Neumann (nee Steffen) and raised on a dairy farm.

As a World War II Veteran, he obtained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. He served in the 24th Corps in Korea, assigned to General McArthur, to establish the 38th parallel. He was certified Airbourne and made 10 jumps.

He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, joined Sigma Phi Epsilon and Beta Alpha Psi, played the clarinet in the University Marching Band and graduated with a BBA Degree in Accounting.

His career included 4 ½ years with a Big 8 public accounting firm, Peat, Marwick, Mitchell; 13 years in investment banking: The Milwaukee Company in Milwaukee; H.O.Peet in Kansas City, Bosworth Sullivan in Denver and 16 years in the Oil and Gas Industry, where he became Vice President of Finance and Administration for Reserve Oil Inc. He worked for Global Natural Resources and Sundance Oil. He traveled to Canada, Europe and South America with his work.

Throughout his lifetime he belonged to many clubs and organizations: President of the Denver Chapter of the Financial Executive Institute (FEI), member of the Petroleum Club, the University of Wisconsin Mile High Alumni Club, member of Pinehurst Country Club, and trustee for Trinity United Methodist Church and served as Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts.

Following his retirement he developed the Wisconsin farm into the lovely Cranberry Knolls Subdivision.

Marvin's interests were skiing, golfing and traveling. He served as a Judge at the World Cup Skiing Championships. He and his wife traveled to 50 states and over 50 foreign countries. They also vacationed in Mexico in the winter.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Carol Neumann; daughter, Deborah N. (Robert) Ksiazek; three grandchildren, Jesse D. (Jackie) Neumann, Carolyn M. Ksiazek, Robert W. Ksiazek; great-grandchild, Josephine; and sister-in-law Marian Martell; 6 nieces, a nephew, and a family friend Barbara Eckert.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip William Neumann; mother, Gertrude Emma Neumann; brother, Norbert P. Neumann; and son, David S. Neumann.

He was a kind and thoughtful husband and a cherished father who took his children hiking, skiing and vacationing. We loved him dearly and will miss his presence every day.

In 2016, after 51 years in Colorado, the Neumanns moved to Missouri.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Living Word United Methodist Church, 17315 Manchester Rd, Wildwood, MO 63038. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Living Word United Methodist Church. Inurnment to take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Centennial CO.
