Mary Kay Bertholf, age 69, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 in O'Fallon, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 26, 1953 to William and Katherine Steinlage (nee Gerber).
After high school Mary Kay became a dental hygienist. Mary Kay and her husband, Clark served as foster parents to 25 children. For 20 years Mary Kay volunteered and worked with the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the highest award for volunteering. The simplest pleasures in life brought Mary Kay joy. She loved camping. She mastered cooking over a campfire, fishing, and loved sitting in the creek spending time with family and friends. Everyone knew rule #1, don't go camping without Mary Kay; and rule #2…never break rule #1. Mary Kay was a loving mother who always wanted the best for her boys.
Spending time with her family was when Mary Kay was happiest in life. Everyone who knew Mary Kay, knew she was easy going, kind, a great listener, and the best secret keeper.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jason (Jessica) Bertholf, Scott (Holly) Bertholf (Noah and Isaac Duvall), grandson, Will Bertholf, sisters, Karen (Tom) Birkel, Patricia (Rick) Haberstroh, Debbie (Dale) Liefer, Jackie (John) Fasching, Peggy (Bob) McGartland, brother, Bill (Kathy) Steinlage, favorite niece, Stacy Haberstroh and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Kitty Steinlage; husband, Clark Bertholf; granddaughter, Kayleigh Bertholf; nephew, Robbie McGartland; niece, Stephanie Frank.
Services will be July 28, at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel with a service to follow.
