Mary Jean Colby

Mary Jean Colby, age 90, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Chesterfield, Missouri. She was born in Windsor, Missouri on December 30, 1931, to Thomas and Louise Vannatta (nee Glass).
She was married to Russell Colby on June 18, 1955.

Mary loved reading and knitting and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She knitted hats for the newborn babies at Missouri Baptist Hospital and made pillows for hospital patients after their surgeries.

Mary is survived by her husband, Russell S. Colby; son, Randy (Cheri) Colby; daughter, Melanie Johnson; grandson, Shane (Jessica) Johnson; granddaughter, Katlyn (Kyle) Nickolaus; grandson, Bo (Chelsea) Johnson; granddaughter, Allison Colby; great-grandson, Benjamin Johnson; great-grandson, Jameson Johnson; great-granddaughter, Summer Lee Johnson; sister, Betty Lou Greer; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Louise Vannatta; son-in-law, Michael Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Hal) Colby, Harold D. Greer, and James Gremminger; and sister, Leta Maxine Gremminger.

A memorial service will be held at Parkway Baptist Church, 12465 Olive Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63141 on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 10:00 am.
