Mary Jane Crawford, age 88, of O Fallon, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 20, 1933.
Mary was a Admitting Clerk at Missouri Baptist Hospital and worked for years after retirement at Wal-Mart. She was married to Duane Crawford.
Mary is survived by her Children; Eve Crawford, Duane (Linda) Crawford, Roy (Teresa) Crawford, Mark (Karen) Crawford, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Roy and Helen (nee Barkhowe) Klose; Husband, Henry Duane Crawford.
Mary attended Normandy High School and married her childhood sweetheart Duane soon after graduation in 1951. Duane was drafted during the Korean war, and they moved to Albuquerque New Mexico. They returned to Normandy Missouri where they lived until they moved to Cottleville Missouri in 1969. Mary operated a small plaster and craft business for several years. She was an avid reader well known by the library who arranged dozen books a week shipped to her home. She was also actively involved with R.T.P. (Remembering The Past St. Louis). All of Mary's grandchildren and great-grandchildren refer to her as "Grandma Kitty" because of the numerous cats (100+) she owned during her life along with many dogs, horses, goats, chickens and numerous other animals. Over the years Mary and Duane opened their home to many children and young adults that often stayed or lived with them.
Services will be January 29, at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 1:00 pm with Service at 1:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel. The family would like to invite those able to come for a short graveside service, the interment will be at Valhalla Cemetery, 7600 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, MO 63133 at 2:00 pm, January 29.
