Mary Day, age 93, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019. She was born in Tampa, Florida on January 4, 1926 to Octavio and Mary (nee Canella) Rodriguez.
Mary was a star shortstop on the church softball team, which was coached by her husband Jim. She was also an avid volleyball player. Some of her favorite pass times included crocheting, playing canasta, videotaping movies, and attending Cardinal baseball games. Her favorite baseball team however was the N.Y. Giants because her father played for the Giants minor league team in his younger days. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had a giving, warm heart for everyone she knew and for those whose lives she touched.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jim Day (Jenny) of Saint Peters, MO, Darrell Day of St Charles, MO, daughter Ellen Marre (Mark) of Troy, MO, three grandchildren: Renee (Paul/Eric), Adam (Melanie), and Monica,(Josh), plus eight great grandchildren: Emily, Kaitlyn, Ava, Dylan, Matthew, Lyla, Malia and Jackson, a sister Irene and a host of other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, daughter-in-law Janice, sisters Mercedes and Jenny,and brothers Buster, Joey, Louis and Sebastian.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, which is located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in St. Peters, MO. 63376. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 10180 Gravois in St. Louis, MO. 63123.
