Mary Louise Kuykendall

Mary Louise Kuykendall (affectionately known as Granny by her loving family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren) passed away at the age of 93 on September 14, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri.

 A proud Texan, she lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was born January 27, 1931 in Amarillo to Charlie and Hallie Griffin. On April 19, 1950, she married Glenn Ralph Kuykendall (who later earned the nickname Bopper). They gave birth to a son, Randy, and daughter, Sheryl, and enjoyed 62 years of blissful marriage.

 Mary Louise earned a certificate in Library Science, enjoyed sewing and reading and her church family, and founded a library for the congregation of First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. In 1990, Glenn and Mary Louise moved to Hurst, Texas to be near their son and family where they became very involved at Gateway Church of Southlake. In 2019, Mary Louise moved to St. Louis to be near her daughter and family.

 She was preceded in death by husband Glenn Kuykendall, parents Charlie and Hallie Griffin, brothers Clifford Griffin and Richard Griffin, son Randy Kuykendall, grandson Chris Kuykendall and son-in-law Don Self.
 
She is survived by sister Betty Foster, brother Charles Griffin, daughter Sheryl Self, daughter-in-law Ginger Kuykendall, grandsons B.J. (Sarah) Self, Justin (Colleen) Self, and Ryan (Katie) Self, Terrel Kuykendall, and great-grandchildren Aubrey, Emmett, Adelyn, Hattie, Luke and Simon Self.
