Mary Louise Pope

November 26, 1942 — March 16, 2025

St. Charles

Mary Louise Pope passed away at home on March 16, 2025 with her daughters by her side.

She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Pope, Michele (Michael) Callanan; two grandchildren, Allison Callanan, Connor Callanan; brother, Robert (Paula) Michelmann Sr.; sister, Sally (Jerry) Albano; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Gus Michelmann; mother, Georgia Louise Michelmann; two sons, Richard Pope, Anthony Pope; sister, Roberta Mae Michelmann; and nephew, Robert Michelmann, Jr.

She was a resident of Bissell Hills in Bellefontaine Neighbors and retired from Bellefontaine Habilitation Center as a Registered Nurse. After retirement, she moved to St. Charles, Missouri.

She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church and later Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Jerome Ladies guild while her children attended grade school and Vice President of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital ladies auxiliary once she moved to St. Charles.

Her “sorority” best friends from grade school meant the world to her and she looked forward to lunches and game days. She also kept in touch with her friends from St. Jerome, having breakfast get togethers.

Above all though, she loved her family. Family celebrations were abundant at her home and everyone was always welcome. She was proud of her grandchildren. She moved close and loved to babysit and do school pickups when they were young. As they grew up, she hosted Sunday family dinners to keep those loving family connections alive.

There are no words to express how much she will be missed by all who know her.

A visitation will be held at Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 am. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon after the Funeral Mass in the Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Center.
