Mary Martha Skyles, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 29, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, she filled her years with a vibrant spirit that touched the hearts of many.
Mary was known for her spunky personality, infectious humor, and unyielding love for her family. She had a flair for the dramatic, always choosing themes that transformed every gathering into a beautifully coordinated celebration, be it strawberry plates or an all-pink extravaganza. Her meticulous attention to detail extended to everything she crafted, creating lasting memories for her loved ones.
As a proud mother, Mary cherished her role and found her greatest joy in her children: Dennis, Donald, Kathy, and Michelle. She took immense pride in her family, especially in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-granddaughter. The warmth of their love and the laughter they shared were among her proudest accomplishments.
Mary's colorful spirit extended beyond her family life. Known for her passion for shopping, she had a penchant for all things pink—a reflection of her own joyful personality.
Her legacy will forever be cherished by her children, Dennis (Kathy) Johnson, Kathy Otey, and Michelle (Steve) Freant 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and her great great granddaughter, who will carry forward the values of family, love, and creativity they learned from her. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Norma) Becker, her many nieces and nephews and other family members and dear friends, who shared countless memories and laughter with her throughout their lives.
Mary's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including those who held a special place in her heart - her beloved husband, Jim Skyles, who predeceased her, and her son, Donald Johnson, along with her dear parents, John and Clara Becker, and her siblings, John Becker, William Becker, Marian Smith, Mike Becker, and Eugene Brady, who welcomed her with open arms on the other side.
A visitation will take place on March 19, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis at 2:00 PM that same day, allowing her family and friends to say their farewells and celebrate the joyous life she led.
