Mary Kay Stergos, 63, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 after a year-long battle with colon cancer.
Mary grew up in Florissant and attended Hazelwood Central High School. This was followed by a degree from Benedictine University and then UMKC, where she obtained her law degree. Mary was a woman who loved deeply- music, art, and, most of all, her family. She was known for her encyclopedic knowledge of pretty much anything, her detailed to-do lists, and her deep Catholic faith. Mary was a woman of strength, who raised two daughters on her own, and still found the energy to nurse her parents through their twilight years.
Mary leaves behind her two daughters, Justine Veit (Tom Langley) and Hilary (Derek) Riedel and four beloved grandchildren, Pete, Jack, Margot, and James. She was the daughter of John and Adelheid Stergos; sister of John (Debbie), Christy, Margaret (Adam) Bush, Ellen (Walt) Barron, and Matt; aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Road in Cottleville, Missouri on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00am. Visitation will be at church prior to mass from 10:00am - 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to FISH of St. Charles Food Pantry.
