Mary Wooten

Mary Lou Wooten, age 81, of Troy, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in Saint Charles, Missouri. She was born in Ross Township, Ohio on April 18, 1943 to Harry and Adeline Sutherland (nee Monto). 

Mary was an avid collector of eagles – even going so far as to try convincing someone to literally give her the shirt off his back because it had an eagle on it! She loved to complete word fill-in puzzles during her spare time and always had one nearby on a clipboard with a pen attached. Mary spent many hours with her husband Glenn putting together puzzles, several of which adorned the walls of her home. She enjoyed playing Canasta and was always willing to teach family and friends how to play. No family get-together was complete without a game of Canasta and Mary’s delicious fried pork chops! She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her Three Sons, Curt (Cindy) Wooten, Scott (Jeanne) Wooten, Danny Wooten; Eight grandchildren, Bobby Wooten, Dylan Wooten, Zachary Wooten, Jonas Mapp, Wesley (Dystinty) Wooten, Aleesha Wooten, Dawson Wooten, Susan Wooten; Two great-grandchildren, Malychi Wooten, Mkynna Wooten; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wooten; Three grandchildren, Steven Wooten, Bryan Wooten, JR Wooten; Father, Harry Joseph Sutherland; Mother, Anna Adeline Sutherland; Eleven Siblings, Margaret Sutherland, Martha (Bill) Stitzel, Eileen (Ed) Emch, Patricia (Jim) Cousino, Stella Sutherland, Jimmy (Grace) Sutherland, Rusty (Chuck) Lowry, Joann (Ken) Pope, Sonny (Marlene) Sutherland, Shelia Dudley, Bobbie Riff; 

Celebration of Life will be 10:30 am Sunday, September 1, 2024 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Peters Chapel. Interment to take place at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
