Matthew Warren Rowland

Matthew Warren Rowland of O'Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 49 on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Matt was born the youngest of four children on May 27, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Warren and Norma Rowland. He grew up helping on the family farm and was involved in 4-H and FFA. Matt graduated from Westmoore High School in 1990 and attended college at Oklahoma State University where he earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Agronomy specializing in Weed Science, 1996 and 1998 respectively. He followed his passion for agronomy with careers spanning Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri including international travel to Chile and South Africa. He worked for the Sunray Co-op, Texas A&M Extension Office, Noble Research Foundation, Monsanto and Bayer Crop Science.

Matt and Traci met while attending Oklahoma State in 1994. They married on December 11, 1999 in Perkins, OK. Lauren was born while they were living in Ardmore, OK and Devlin was born after they settled in O'Fallon, MO.

Matt lived for anything outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with family and friends and his prized pointer Shasta and labs Madi and Drago. He enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, camping, and baseball. He loved Lauren and Devlin and attended all their sports games, softball, baseball, basketball, and football. He was very close to his nephews and niece and had fun with them growing up. Matt will be remembered for his ornery personality and sense of humor and his love for jumping out from behind objects to scare people. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife Traci L. Rowland (Bostian); loving children Lauren and Devlin Rowland; parents Norma Rowland (Mahan) of Oklahoma City, OK and Warren Rowland of Oklahoma City, OK, and parents-in-law Ron and Sherry Bostian of Perkins, OK. He was also the dear brother of Shari (Rowland) and Pete McLaughlin, Erin (Rowland) and Shawn Brooks, Amy (Rowland) and Aaron McReynolds, and brother-in-law of Nichole Bostian Trantham; treasured uncle of Jared and Maggie McLaughlin and Sean McLaughlin; Megan and Jacob Brooks; Connor and Braden McReynolds and by loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as close family friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, St Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Saint Peters, Missouri 63376. A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Newcomer, St Peters Chapel. Interment will be private.
