Mauriece Smith

Mauriece Smith, age 82, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Ballwin, Missouri. She was born in Cherokee, Arkansas on November 18, 1941, to Albert and Frances (Hitch) Smith.

Mauriece was a pharmacist, working first at KU Hospital. She moved on to two different drug manufacturing companies as line manager and later as a consultant for Pfizer before retirement. She received many awards from work, sports, and school. She was an active member at her church Kirkwood Baptist in Missouri, as well as teaching director of a community bible study group for five years. Mauriece loved all kinds of sports. She played basketball for a Raytown, Missouri team who traveled internationally. From Russia to Australia Mauriece played in numerous different countries during which she competed in the USA-Pan-American games. She also played senior softball and volleyball. Mauriece was an avid golfer, with at least one hole-in-one while playing weekly with her very best friend Norma Putz.

Mauriece is survived by her sister-in-law, Dana Smith; her aunt, Mary Leuzinger; her uncle, John (Sue) Hitch; her nephew, Jared (Katie) Smith; her cousins, Lawrence W. (Anita) Lloyd II, Chris (Christil) Lloyd, Janet (Clark) Jacobs, Joann (Jerry) Powell, and Marlys Dirksen; her second cousins, Fallon Lloyd, Tiernan Lloyd, Hunter Lloyd, Maura Lloyd, Scott (Kim) Jacobs, and Susan (Steve) Anger and numerous other loving family members. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert M. Smith; her mother, Frances M. Smith; and her brother, Bill M. Smith.

Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00 pm on May 15, 2024, at Kirkwood Baptist Church, 211 N Woodlawn Ave, Kirkwood, MO 63122.
