Michael Thomas Girtman, age 30, passed away January 24th, 2022 at his home in Vandalia, Illinois. Born December 23rd, 1991 in Belleville, Illinois, Michael grew up to meet his sweetheart Kasi Rootz, whom he was sharing his life with. Michael is survived by his mother, Melissa Girtman; father, Michael L. (Trenda) Girtman; fiancee Kasi Rootz; brother, Nicholas Girtman; sisters Christina (Meem) Rombotis-Sleem and Chelsea (Steve) Ramer; grandma, Judy Weekley; grandpa, Leonard Girtman; aunts Tina, Pam, and Vicky; uncles Paul (Missy) and Michael (Sarah); cousins, Sarah, Will, Cory, Sheena, Matt, Kailee, Meghan, Jarett, and Darick; niece, Kylie Ramer, and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandma, Judy Girtman; grandpa, Paul Belken; and uncles Phil and Tony.
From the age of two, he grew up in O'Fallon, Mo., graduating in 2010 from Fort Zumwalt South High School. After some college and multiple jobs, he found his place in the Aftermarket Auto Warranty Sales industry. He worked for multiple companies, helping build their communications platforms and continuously improving their businesses. He was employed by Auto Assure - Endurance Branch and had recently been promoted to Customer Service Manager.
Michael met Kasi in 2008 and in 2014 they started a life together. In 2020 they moved to Vandalia, Illinois to live and build on their future.
Like the man he was named after, his great grandfather Michael Thomas Savant, Michael grew up to be quite the respected and loved man, by all. He was a free-spirited, easy-going guy who was not afraid of hard work. His dreams were deeper than most could handle. He loved to help people, especially the elderly. His granny Judy would attest to that. She taught him many things including the art of gardening, of which he learned to love. Michael had a green thumb and could make any plant prosper. He was brilliant, there was nothing he couldn't do or figure out.
Michael was an extremely spiritual person. He believed in harmony and peace for all, one of the humblest people you would have ever met. He yearned to understand God and Life.
God blessed, forever loved…
