Michael Reape

Michael Allen Reape, age 61, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born on November 15, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, Mike was the beloved son of Patrick and Katharina Reape (née Stolte).

Mike graduated from Hazelwood West High School in 1981 and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for four years, including a memorable year stationed in South Korea. Mike’s service reflected his adventurous spirit, introducing him to lifelong friends and experiences that shaped his view of the world.

Mike was a master drywall taper, learning the trade from his father and dedicating his life to perfecting his craft. Known for his unmatched skill and tireless work ethic, he spent decades providing for his family with hard work and dedication. After retiring, he continued to make an impact by driving a school bus, where his warmth and humor quickly endeared him to the kids he drove daily.

In his own way, Mike lived fully—reminiscing about the days spent riding his Harley with friends, savoring a fountain Diet Coke, grilling up his favorite pork steaks, or quietly giving his time at the local animal shelter. His humor, kindness, and laid-back nature made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.

Mike loved his family deeply, especially his grandson Callahan, who was his greatest joy. He was a dedicated father who taught his sons, Kevin and David, not just how to be men, but how to live fully—with hard work, laughter, and a generous heart. 

Mike is survived by his two sons, Kevin Michael (Jacqueline) Reape and David Patrick (Jaden) Reape; his mother, Katharina Reape; his brother, William (Debra) Reape; his sister, Teresa Schramm; his sister-in-law, Denise Reape (Patrick); his grandson, Callahan Reape; nephews and nieces: Joseph Reape, Thomas Reape, Jessica (Rian) Moore, Daniel (Sabrina) Mason, Amy (Denny) Halleman, Kellie (Nick) Hurlbut, Katie Schramm, along with many other cherished family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Reape, and his brother, Patrick Reape.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel.

As we remember Mike, we honor a man who lived life with humor, kindness, and a commitment to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to know him.
