Michael Sexton

Michael "Mick" Sexton, age 77, of Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 16, 1945 to Clement and Julia Sexton (nee Burgoyne).

Mick is survived by his children, Lisa (Jamey) Scherer and Shawn (Jessica) Sexton; granddaughters, Abby (Jeff) Johns, Kearsten Sexton, Emily Scherer, Riley Scherer, and Clara Sexton; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Julia Sexton; and brother, Daniel (the late Joan) Tenbarge.


Mick worked as a residential and commercial painter, proudly representing Union 1199 for over 40 years. He was recognized by the City of St. Louis for his dedication and contributions as a painter with the creation of "Michael Sexton Day", which was celebrated each year on his birthday, April 16th. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage, and recently enjoyed a trip to Ireland. Mick also loved motorcycles, especially taking long road trips on his Harley. He was loved by many for his quick wit, humor, and fun-loving personality, and his greatest joy was time spent with his treasured granddaughters. Mick was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
