Michael G. Stroer age 69, of St. Peters, Missouri passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 9, 2018. Mike was born on September 5, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Henry and Mary (Lyons) Stroer. On June 24, 1971, Mike married Diana (Fricke) Stroer. Mike and Diana have lived in St. Peters, Missouri for the past 45 years.
Michael was drafted into the United States Army in 1967. He valiantly served his country fighting in the Viet Nam War. He earned the rank of Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged in 1970. While serving in Viet Nam, Mike's buddies gave him the nick name of "Red Dog" because of his red hair. After returning home from the war, Mike became a life member of VFW Post #5077 of O'Fallon and life member of AMVETS Post #106 of St. Peters where he previously served as a member of the Honor Guard.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Diana; daughter, Sheila R. Carroll of Saint Peters; three grandsons, John Rust, Michael Chapin, and Cory Watson: and brother, John Stroer. Mike also is survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sisters, Marianne Teveau, Shirley VanNastran, and Carol Schleasner; brothers, Harry, Sr., Thomas, Donald, and Kenneth Stroer; and step-son, Keith LeFever.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at Newcomers with Deacon Peter Gounis officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
