Nell Marie Fitzwater

August 31, 1937 — December 22, 2024

St. Peters, Missouri

Nell Marie Fitzwater, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on December 22, 2024, in St. Peters, Missouri, at the age of 87. Born on August 31, 1937, in Shipman, Illinois, Nell created a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

Nell’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a constant caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her marriage to James (Jim) Fitzwater was a cornerstone of her life for 48 happy years. Their sons, Kurt Fitzwater and Kyle Fitzwater, were a source of great pride for Nell. She was also deeply grateful for their spouses, Barb Fitzwater (Kurt) and Steven Rosnow (Kyle), who brought even more love and laughter into her life.

Nell spent most of her years in Florissant, where she fostered beautiful memories with her family, who lived just across the street. This arrangement allowed her children to grow up alongside their three cousins. With five boys close-in-age, there was no shortage of excitement, and Nell often reflected on those years with great fondness. She had a deep affection for her extended family, including her dear sister-in-law Gerri Brooks and her beloved nephews and nieces – Kevin and Cynde Brooks, Kim and Kent Brooks, and Kerry Brooks and Steve Davis. At the center of this close-knit family was always Nell. Her warmth and generosity touched each of their lives.

Nell’s pride and joy were undoubtedly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with Ashly and her husband Scott, and adored her great-grandsons, Fitz and Hardy. Her love for them knew no bounds.

A lover of pets, she had a special place in her heart for dogs, not only her own but also those belonging to friends and family. Her affection for these furry companions brought joy to her life, underscoring her gentle spirit and caring nature.

Nell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Fitzwater, and her dear son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Barb Fitzwater. She also mourned the loss of her sister-in-law, Gerri Brooks, as well as her companion, Donald Sondker. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, and their absence was profoundly felt.

In this difficult time, we celebrate the life of Nell Marie Fitzwater who filled her family’s lives with warmth, joy, and unforgettable memories. Her legacy will remain alive in the stories shared and the love that binds her family together. As we remember Nell, let us honor her and the happiness she brought to those around her.
