Norman Keith Hild

August 18, 1937 — January 30, 2025

Lake St. Louis, Missouri

Norman Keith Hild, affectionately known as "Norm," was born on August 18, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa. He passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever resonate with his family and friends.

Norm's career as a propulsion engineer, which spanned nearly four decades at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, showcased not only his remarkable skills but also his deep passion for aviation. Following his retirement, he devoted almost 20 years as a volunteer at Wings of Hope, exemplifying his caring nature and desire to give back to the community.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. This education laid the foundation for a fulfilling professional journey and contributed to the proudest accomplishment of his life: raising his five children with Sharon, his loving wife.

Norm loved nothing more than traveling with his family. He held dear the memories of joyous Christmases spent together and the delightful annual shopping trips with his daughters, where they would select gifts for their mother. Additionally, he cherished taking his sons to exhilarating race events and the family bonding moments shared over games. His easy-going, good-natured personality and quick wit made every gathering brighter and every conversation more engaging.

An avid enthusiast of aviation, motorsports, and camping, Norm was known for his enjoyment of airshows, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, and even riding his bicycle. He was a faithful supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals, sharing these passions with those he loved.

Norm's family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Hild, who would be celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary on February 12th, his children Gregory Hild, Lori (Thomas) Briggs, and Angela (Kevin) Anderson, his grandchildren Logan (Samantha) Dunn, Tyler (Salam) Briggs, Mackenzie Briggs, Dayton Anderson, and Morgan Anderson, and his great-grandson Noah Briggs. He also leaves behind his brother, Jerry (Mary Alice) Hild, his sister, Joan (Kent) Springer, his daughter-in-law Pam Hild, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward his spirit of kindness and humor.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Alma Hild, his son Steven Hild, his daughter Cynthia Dunn, and his son-in-law Gregory Schwartzkopf. While they have departed from our sight, they will remain forever in our hearts, lovingly remembered in the stories that shape the fabric of family life.

In celebration of Norm's life, a Memorial Gathering will take place on February 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 14088 Clayton Road, Town and Country, MO 63017. The family would like to invite you to join them for a light lunch at the Church following services to honor Norm's life.

Norm's legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and kindness. He will be deeply missed, yet the laughter and love he brought to this world will echo in the hearts of all who cherished him.
