Patricia "Shawn" Mccarty

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Patricia 'Shawn' McCarty, age 51, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 27 years to James McCarty; dear mother of Ireland McCarty and Abby McCarty; dear daughter of Darlene Grass, and Randy Dowd; dear sister of Kimberly (Ronald) Steidle, and Lisa (Jay) Walls; dear daughter-in-law of Michael (Bette) McCarty. She will be greatly missed by many other family members and friends.

A caring wife and mother, Shawn loved her family and friends fiercely. She enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays, and was known for her party planning, crafts, and thoughtful gifts. Her happy place was the beach and her family cherishes many fond memories of her toes in the sand.

As an advocate for Autism, she coordinated an annual team to walk, fundraise and bring awareness to Autism. Over the years, she raised over $25,000 for Autism Speaks, and was recognized as a top fundraiser for St. Louis.

She excelled professionally and was the recipient of the St. Louis Apartment Association's Property Manager of the Year Award. Known for her integrity, positivity, sense of humor and commitment, her colleagues described her as "one of the best."

Her strength, compassion and sense of humor will be dearly missed.

Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior to Mass. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
