Patrick “Pat” Paul Patterson, age 86, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on March 8, 2025. He was born on January 6, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late William Patterson and Margaret Wilmoth. He was also deeply influenced by his late stepfather, Manscelle Mutton, whose guidance played a meaningful role in his life.
A proud graduate of Taylor High School in Michigan, Pat was an all-area basketball champion before serving in the U.S. Army’s Army Security Agency (ASA) in Hawaii from 1958 to 1960. Following his military service, he built a successful career in banking, retiring as a branch manager in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Pat shared a deep and enduring love with his late wife, Paula. He was also a devoted father and grandfather, and his greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them.
A lifelong athlete, Pat’s passion for sports, especially softball and golf, was a defining part of who he was. He also had a deep affection for his dogs, who brought him comfort and companionship throughout his life. Pat’s vibrant personality and love for life were contagious. He enjoyed bringing smiles to others, particularly when wearing his favorite cowboy hat and dancing to “YMCA”.
Pat was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paula Patterson, and his daughter, Tami Seng. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Cook (Jack); his former wife Barbara Schwarz; his children, Scott Patterson, Darsi Patterson, Troy Payment (Kristen), Tim Payment (Allison), and Tara Adair (Ryan); his grandchildren, James Mears, Misty Pryce, Alisha Hart, Nicole Beaty, Angela Beaty, Jesse Patterson, Aiden Fowler, Ari Fowler, Jaydon Payment, Carson Payment, John Patrick Payment, Reilly Payment, Evan Payment, and Patrick Adair; as well as seven great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
Pat’s kindness, sense of humor, and sportsmanship will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Pete’s Garage in Monroe, Michigan on Aug. 30th.
