Peggy Ann Bowman "Chief Hawk Warrior Woman", age 80, of O Fallon, Missouri passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on October 13, 1941.

Peggy Bowman was the owner of Bowman's Yesteryear Antiques located on South Main Street in St Charles.
In the early 1980's Peggy and her husband Bill purchased the historic Dames Home in St Charles County, where they resided with their children.

She started Salt River Auction Service, becoming one of the first women auctioneers in the Eastern Missouri Region.

A proud member of the American Indian Movement.

Peggy became a member of the American Indian Society and held the Executive Director position in addition to Lecturer and Storyteller.
Peggy had a great deal of interest and understanding in the Genealogy area as well.

She later received the approval from the Cherokee Nation to share her Indian heritage knowledge. This gave her the opportunity to travel and educate others, visiting many schools from elementary to college levels, sharing the history of Indian customs and beliefs.
Many Indian pow wows were attended by Peggy, where she was quite active in the Bi-state region.

The city of Alton, IL invited her to the dedication of Piasa Park on opening day so she may purify the site location.
Ultimately, Peggy Bowman was recognized as "Chief of the People".

Peggy is survived by her husband, Oliver "Bill" Bowman; her children, Christine M. (Marc) Salas and William J. Bowman, Eric T. Bowman of O Fallon, MO, Grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Phelps, Brittany (Scott) Phelps-Robertson, Christopher Bowman, Ashley Bowman, Raven Bowman, Bachner Bowman, Michael Bowman, Alyssa Bowman, Jacob Bowman and Benjamin Bowman; her great-grandchildren, Emma Phelps, Morgan Phelps, AJ Robertson and Tom Robertson; She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Anthony Bowman.

Visitation will be held on January 14, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
