Rachel Marie Millonas "Shelly", age 65, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 6, 1957 to Michael and Tasia Millonas (nee Bastas).
Shelly is survived by her sister, Elene (Rick) Beacham, and brother, William (Claudia) Millonas; nephew, Joshua Millonas; niece, Christina Beacham; uncle, Pete (Sue) Bastas; and a host of other family members, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Tasia Millonas.
As the oldest child in her family, Shelly was more than a sibling to her younger sister and brother, she was like a second mother to them. Throughout their childhood, Shelly and her siblings forged a friendship that would last a lifetime, and in reflection, they credit Shelly as the glue that held their family together. As she grew, Shelly went on to earn a doctorate in psychology and enjoyed a lengthy career working in several areas of her field, including probation and parole, as well as private practice. She was also an accomplished musician, playing not only the piano, but the 6 and 12 string guitar as well. Shelly had a fiercely adventurous spirit, and she loved to travel. She embarked on countless road trips, loved to visit wine country, and enjoyed many cruises over the years. Shelly also loved the outdoors, especially sailing, camping, and fishing. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed reading, though nothing gave her as much joy as time spent with family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her family for her selfless and generous nature, as well as her heartfelt love for animals of all kinds. Shelly was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial contributions in honor of Shelly's fondness for animals may be made to Second Chance Ranch.
