Ramon Martinez, a beloved friend and family member, left this world on April 7, 2025, at the sprightly age of 88. Born on December 3, 1936, in the sunny town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Ramon was truly a ray of sunshine in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
He was not just a hard worker; he was a master in building friendships, with a magnetic charm that turned acquaintances into lifelong pals in a matter of minutes. Ramon had a special place in his heart for his sister, who acted like a second mother to him—an undeniable testament to the bonds he cherished in life.
As a die-hard Mets fan, Ramon was the kind of supporter who would cheer from the stadium seats, despite their occasional rollercoaster of a season. Whether they were winning or losing, his loyalty never wavered, proving that true fanhood is as much about heart as it is about stats. Ramon was quite the "Dandy" and dressed to impress anywhere he went! And while he owned every tool known to humankind, his love for tinkering often led to "creative adjustments" rather than full-blown renovations. After all, who needs an instruction manual when you have a pop-tart box and some duct tape?
Ramon leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Ray (Evelyn) Martinez, along with two very special nieces, Raphaela Wampler and Migdalia (Jeff) Woody, and a nephew who adored him, Rolando (Amy) Vazquez. His cousin, Jenny Garcia, and a host of other family members and friends will also carry fond memories of his infectious joy, love of dance, and boundless spirit.
In the grand tapestry of life, Ramon now joins those who passed before him, including his father, Ramon Oramas; mother, Antonia Martinez; sisters, Ernestina Vazquez and Dorcas Oramas; and brother, Wicho Oramas. Though he is no longer here, his spirit will continue to resonate throughout the lives he touched and the laughter he shared.
So let’s raise a glass in honor of Ramon Martinez, the faithful Mets fan, the friendly tinkerer, and the loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. May his legacy of friendship, laughter, and a love for life inspire us all to cherish our relationships and continue spreading joy!
