Rena Mary Ferreira, age 77, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on October 10, 1943 to Alexander and Mary Moffat (nee Frew).
Born in Scotland, Rena immigrated to South Africa with her family at the age of nine. After finishing high school, she realized her passion and love for children and worked at an Adoption Home. After meeting her soul mate, our father, Piet Ferreira, she dedicated her life to being the best wife and mother anyone could hope for, while still taking care of the other children, loving them like they were her own.
As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. All that knew her, loved her for her kindness, humility and compassion. She was happy and content to lead a simple life as long as she was surrounded by her loved ones. She especially loved the opportunities she had to travel to New Zealand, eventually settling down and becoming a citizen of the United States of America. She took great pleasure in travelling to South Africa and New Zealand occasionally until she reached a point where she was no longer comfortable with such long trips away from home. She missed her family overseas immensely.
Rena was loved tremendously by all who met her, for her gift to care for others, her compassion, generosity and friendship. She will be missed dearly by all.
Rena is survived by her children, John E. (Joanne) Ferreira, Alexander H. (Daleen) Ferreira and Mary W. (Searle) Sieff; her grandchildren, Kevin (Letty) Ferreira, Morne (Samadhi) Ferreira, Liam Ferreira, Jayson Allan, Gary (Jessie) Allan and Michael Allan; her great-grandchildren, Aaron Ferreira, Izick Ferreira and Hannah Ferreira; her siblings, Ann (Bert) Denman, David (Sandra) Moffat, John Moffat and Susan (John) Van Der Spuy; and her sister-in-law, Adeline Moffat. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Piet Ferreira; her parents, Alexander H. and Mary Moffat; and her brother, Alexander Moffat.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Simple Church St. Louis, 1020 Anglum Rd, Hazelwood, MO 63042. Interment will be private.
