Retha Bender

Retha Mae Bender, age 92, of Arnold, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1932, in Iowa to Charles and Fletitia Coverdell.

Retha was a passionate reader who enjoyed the comfort of her books. Throughout her life, she lovingly cared for three rescue dogs, showcasing her compassion for animals. Known for her quick wit and spirited personality, Retha cherished the moments spent with her loved ones.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Evelyn (Bob) Presley and Catherine (Michael) Hankins; and her grandchildren: Heather (Timothy) Winningham, Edward Hairston, Randall (Kendra) Hairston, Rachel Hairston, Jesse (Christine) Presley, Melissa (Andy) Wetzel, and Patricia (Chris) Koop. Retha was also a proud great-grandmother to many, including Ashley (Jason) Bennett, Kaylee Hairston, John Longhauser, Caiden Smith, Lilliana Hairston, Henry Hairston, Tyler Pinnell, Bryce Cox, Michael Beck, Gabriella "Sam" Komlosy, Kayla Wetzel, Colton Wetzel, Charlotte Wetzel, Emma Kleffner, Madeline Koop, and Makenna Wetzel, along with several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives who will hold her memory dear.

Retha is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Fletitia Coverdell, and her siblings: Glen Coverdell, Gale Coverdell, Cleo Dunkerson, Ruby Osborn, and Crystal Coverdell.
