Richard Allan Pollack, age 88, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 27, 2022, in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 18, 1933, to Raymond and Anita Pollack (nee Karbowski).
Richard grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated from Thomas Kelly High School, where he participated on the wrestling team. After school he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He enjoyed sharing stories about his army experiences, especially outings with his army buddies including skiing in the Alps and celebrating his 21st birthday at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany.
Following in his father's footsteps, Richard had a long and successful career in printing. His career took him to Saint Charles, MO in 1973 for a position at General Credit Forms Inc. where he worked for 25 years. He was passionate about his work and enjoyed his colleagues and mentored the production staff by sharing his knowledge of printing operations. He retired in 1998 as Vice President of Production.
In his free time, he kept active around the house; taking care of the pool, working in his yard and gardens, riding around on his John Deere tractor, biking on the Katy Trail (where he often out biked his own kids), playing golf, and enjoying all the St. Louis sports. His favorite places were the Missouri Botanical Gardens and visiting the local wineries.Richard had a passion for traveling and enjoyed many trips with his wife, Barbara, friends, and family. His favorite trips included Caribbean cruises, Hawaii, Key West, Aruba, Lake Tahoe and anywhere with a beach, good food, plenty of cocktails and good laughs.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Pollack, sister, Shirley (Mike) Long, brother, Robert Pollack, daughter, Cynthia (John) Schaefer, son, James (Stephen Kaldi) Pollack, daughter, Cheryl (Stephen) Johnson, son Thomas Pollack, grandchildren, Melanie Schaefer, Lindsey (Jared) Bjorgo, Keifer Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Beckett Cohen-Wise, great-grandchildren, Romeo Chilman, and Lucius Chilman, special extended family Lisa Wise and Cameron Cohen, a host of dear nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Anita Pollack; stepmother, Helen Pollack; brother, Raymond Pollack Jr.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Pollack; daughter, Lynn Hummel; son, Michael Pollack and his adored mother-in-law, Florence Urbanek.
Donations in his memory can be made to the non-profit organization St. Charles County Youth Orchestra (www.sccyo.org) where he attended many concerts of young musicians, including his granddaughter or Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service (www.jacares.org) as he was always concerned and supported those in need.
Visitation will be June 5 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Saint Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO, 63376. Services will be June 6 at 11:30 am with a visitation one hour prior, 10:30 am until 11:30 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 1 Seton Ct, St Charles, MO 63303.
