He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emma Robson; and sister, Radine Gleason.
After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1953, Richard bought a step van converting it into a food truck with the help of his father. As one of the first food trucks in the St. Louis area, he would have delicious burgers ready for his loyal customers and friends. He had stops at General Motors, Rexall Drugs, Jefferson Cement and Carter Carburetor.
Richard was so very proud and honored to serve in the U.S. Army & Army Reserve from 1957-1963. Before being honorably discharged, his specialty was heavy weapons Infantry. He had Marksman qualification, Badge M-1 Rifle, and Second-Class Gunner 4.2 Mortar. He would tell stories about sleeping in the desert, while making lifelong friends and stating those were some of the best times in his life.
Richard met his wife, Joyce through a mutual friend and they were married in 1960. They had two daughters, three grandsons, two granddaughters and two great grandsons.
In 1981, Richard & his wife, Joyce, bought a shuttered pop-in-dairy store on Chambers Rd, in Moline Acres, converted it to a drive-thru restaurant and named it The White Barn. The burgers were so good, they would sell more than 300 pounds of meat in a day. Richard cherished all his customers and everyone he worked with.
Richard was a lover of classic cars, military collectibles and antique toys. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. We will all miss his big smile.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's honor to Stray Rescue.
