Richard C. Thompson, age 74, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri on June 23, 1944 to James and Thelma Thompson (nee Grisham). He was married to his beloved wife Dorothy Thompson for 40 years.
Rich is survived by his wife: Dorothy Thompson of Saint Charles, MO, daughter: Tracey A Thompson, daughter: Christina L. Thompson-Williams, son: Richard B. Thompson, daughter: Dana (Brian) Holtgraewe, son: Austin (Cathy) Ruse, daughter: Darcie (Daniel) Rohlfing, son: Douglas (Deedee) Ruse, 19 grandchildren: Dustin, Kelsey (Bryant), Cameron (Heather), Kyle, Emily, Madison, Nathan, Austin (Michelle), Morgan, Luke, Megan, Nick, Ethan, Lilia, Grace, Bella, Lucy, GiGi, Melody, 5 great grandchildren: Abigail, Sophia, Alice, Parker, Ava, and one brother: James D. Thompson and a host of other family members and friends. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Barbara Jean Moberly and previous wife: Joyce Anne Thompson.
In 1961 Rich enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years as an Airman First Class. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. In the early 1970's Rich purchased the Texaco Station at the corner of Elm and Hawthorn. He remained self employed as proprietor of Rich's Hawthorn Texaco in St. Charles, Missouri until retirement in 2005. Rich was an avid family man and took great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was well loved in the community and by all who met him.
Memorial services for Rich will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive St. Charles, MO 63301.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Volunteers in Medicine, 1039 S. Duchesne Dr. St. Charles, Mo 63301.
