Robert "Bob" Craig Krauter, 65, passed away on February 15, 2024 at his home in St. Peters, in the presence of caring family members after a stubborn battle with cancer.
Born on March 26, 1958, to Robert and Marilyn Krauter, Bob was raised in Florissant where he attended Atonement Lutheran School and graduated from Lutheran High School North. He became a dedicated truck driver and valued employee who spent four decades making long days out of short hauls, enduring traffic jams, ice storms, blowouts and floods to make certain shipments arrived at their destinations.
Bob married Wanda Jasper in 2004. It was a special bond enriched by a shared love of camping, traveling, concerts, NASCAR and lifelong friendships. Later in their lives, a second property in Goose Creek became a treasured weekend getaway for campfires, boating and white-knuckle excursions in their trusty side-by-side, punctuated by celebratory sips of Fireball.
Family was always at the core of Bob's life. Escorting daughter Katie down the wedding aisle was one of his proudest moments. He looked forward to birthday parties, weddings, cookouts, holidays and youth sports gatherings where children and grandchildren were in the spotlight.
Bob was also a fan of the hometown Blues and Cardinals. It wasn't long after the Blues won the Stanley Cup in 2019 that Bob was proudly sporting a tattoo of the team's logo. One of his favorite trips took him to Minneapolis in 2022 for the NHL Winter Classic, where he and son Craig celebrated a Blues victory in sub-zero temperatures.
A lifelong dog lover, Bob's roster of faithful tail-waggers included Boots, Smokey, Pepper and, most recently, Gypsy.
He is survived by Wanda, sister Joan (Jim) Krauter-Smith of Bradenton, Fla., former wife Mary Krauter and their children Craig (Julie) Krauter and Katie (Josh) Kleeschulte, grandchildren Rileigh, Charlee, Sydney, Braelynn, Jordyn, Morgan and Bentley, who all adored their Papa; stepson Michael; an uncle, Tom Krauter, an aunt, Rachel Settlage, and cousins Tom and Helen. He was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister Barbie, an uncle, Craig Settlage, and Aunts Karen Settlage and Marie Krauter.
