Robert Keith Lance, 76, of Lake St. Louis passed away on June 3, 2024. Bob was born on January 31, 1948 and was the son of Kenneth D. Lance and Mildred (Moore) Lance. He was raised in St. Joseph, MO where he graduated from Central High School (1966) and Missouri Western College (1970).
Bob served 4 ½ years enlisted with the Missouri National Guard as a loadmaster and boom operator on the C-97 and KC- 97 Strato-cruiser. He received his Commission in 1971 through Officer Training School (OTS) where he was selected for pilot training and received his pilot wings in 1972. Bob flew combat and humanitarian missions as a pilot of the C-130. He was a Vietnam veteran. After eight years of active duty, he joined the Air Force Reserves where he flew the A-37 and the C-130. After joining the Air Force reserves, Bob became an airline pilot with Ozark Airlines, Trans World Airlines and American Airlines where he retired as a captain. Bob was also proud of becoming a member of the Royal Air Force Club in Great Britain where at the time only 4 US pilots were members.
Bob was called the renaissance man for all of his accomplishments: pianist, writer of 6 published novels, audiobooks and an avid talented painter with works deemed professional!
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Brooke, twin brother Roger (Rose) and sister Karen Johnson. He is predeceased by his brother Kenneth. Bob has 2 children Ryan Lance (Nancy) and Meredith Stieg (James), 4 grandchildren: Ava, Parker, Keaton and Ellis. Bob has 3 nephews: Ken Lance (Adenia), Roger Lance (Elizabeth) and Kevin Lance (Allison) and great niece Abby and great nephew Kaleb.
Bob’s life will be celebrated on June 11th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in St. Peters. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am The service is scheduled at 11:00am. Bob will be escorted to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:15 for burial with honors taking place at 1:30pm. Services will be live streamed.
