Robert John Mach

January 3, 1940 — December 25, 2024

Chesterfield, Missouri

Robert John Mach, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 84. Born on January 3, 1940, in St. Louis, he lived a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication to his family.

Bob was the founder and owner of Tip Top Cleaners, a business he operated for over 50 years. His commitment to excellence and organization was a hallmark of his professional life, and he enjoyed every opportunity to share his experiences and offer business advice. He had a knack for meticulous planning, as evidenced by the many notes and lists that could be found in his office, house and car.

A proud graduate of Cleveland High School, Bob later attended Washington University in St. Louis, where he played football with his brother, Joe. His early years were filled with joy and adventure, but it was the love for his family that truly defined him. Bob cherished every moment spent with his wife of 45 years, Monica, and frequently professed his admiration for his beloved partner and best friend. Bob likewise found immense pride in his four children—Alice Mach, Robert Mach, Elizabeth (Jeff) Bogert, and Jennifer (Ryan) Therrien. The joy of fatherhood was profound for Bob, and as a devoted grandfather, he relished his time spent with his grandchildren: AJ, Aly, Max, Kitty, Daniel, Matthew, Lily and Charlie; and his great-grandson, Brayden.

Bob's personality was often defined by his sense of humor, which ranged from delightfully dry to his beloved "Dad Jokes" that evoked laughter (and occasional cringes) from family and friends. He also had a deep appreciation for proper grammar, often playfully correcting those around him, which added to his one-of-a-kind charm.

Outside of work, Bob loved to escape to the Lake of the Ozarks, where he found tranquility and peace. Traveling with his family brought him immense joy, and he treasured the memories created during those vacations, especially his fondness for the Korte family into which he married.

Bob's life was greatly influenced by his parents, Joseph and Marina Mach, who instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life. Their legacy of hard work, entrepreneurship and love remained with him as he built his own family, to whom he left a distinguished example of dedication and commitment.
