Robert F. Sutter

Robert F. Sutter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 18, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska, Bob lived a life rich in faith, family, and service.

Bob's life was filled with love, and he leaves behind a remarkable legacy through his family. A devoted husband, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rita Sutter. Rita and Bob were childhood sweethearts who enjoyed over 70 years of love and friendship. His parents, Fred and Louise Sutter, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Bob Sutter and Jim (Sally) Sutter; his daughter, Judy (Rick) Navarre; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Charles) Girault, Michelle (Trey) Bonvino, Christie Navarre, Alex Navarre, Allie, Ashley, and Austin Sutter. Furthermore, he was a proud great-grandfather to Aurelia Girault, Arlo Girault, Cade Bonvino, and Sloane Bonvino.

Bob was a dedicated professional, spending the majority of his career at ACF Industries in St. Charles, Missouri. He was proud to have graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University after attending Creighton Prep High School and Creighton University in Omaha. His professional accomplishments were a reflection of the deep pride he took in his work and his commitment to his responsibilities.

Not only did Bob serve his country honorably in the United States Army, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant, he also exemplified leadership beyond his military service. He cherished coaching his children's sports teams, nurturing their talents and instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. Sports were a passion for Bob, and he shared that joy with his family.

Bob's faith and family were the cornerstones of his existence, providing him with strength and joy throughout his life. As we gather to honor him, we celebrate the man who impacted so many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. A Mass to honor Bob will be held at Ascension Church (in the Little Church) in Chesterfield, Missouri, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Florissant. Together, we will remember Bob's gentle spirit, and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's honor to Our Lady's Inn.
