Robert Alex Vogelsang, age 84, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. He was born in Baden, Missouri on August 10, 1936 to Alex and Edith Vogelsang (nee Riesner).
What can you say about a man who without hesitation selflessly devoted his entire life to his family? Married for 61 years, he not only loved his family, he loved his dogs, fast cars, and traveling. Not one to sit still, you may have bumped into him at Schnucks or Menards, sat next to him on Friday nights watching the late models race on a dirt track, or maybe looked out over the rail at the ocean with him from the Lido deck while enjoying a buffet. A simple man who lived his life lead by integrity, but also a quick wit and sense of humor that always lightened out hearts regardless of the situation. Though this amazing man was the best example anyone could have of hard work and determination by retiring from not one, but two jobs, he always made time for the simple things. He touched the hearts of everyone he met, and always knew how to make someone smile. We were blessed to call him husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle and best friend.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marjorie Vogelsang; his daughters, Debbie Vogelsang, Cindy Mainieri (fiancé Daniel Kirby), and Cherie (Doug) Danforth, his grandchildren, Lauren (Joe) Eck, Matthew Mainieri, Samuel Mainieri, Meagan Danforth, Cassidy (Jacob) Linders, and Brianna (Caleb) Eaton; his great-grandchild, Michael Eck; his niece, Karen (Dan) Twillmann, his nephew, Kevin (Chris) Zirges; his great nephews, Adam Zirges, Alex Zirges and Stephen Twillmann; his great-niece, Sara (Jonathan) Lingow; his life-long friend, Ron Ritter and many other friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Edith Vogelsang; and his sister, Ruth (Lorman) Zirges.
