Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and Business Leader.
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Edward Rogers. Born in 1937, Ron passed away on May 16, 2022, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Ron is survived by his wife Janice, sons, Bruce (Debbie), Greg (Karen), and daughter Cindy (Chris), and his beloved grandchildren Rebecca (Davis), Catie (Jimmy), Zachary (Julia), Rachel (Joe), Samuel, and Nicholas, and great-grandchildren, Riley, Ben, and Elsie. He is also survived by many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Ron had an immense joy for life and was known for his generosity, care, and kindness. Born and raised in Cape Girardeau, he attended high school in Sikeston, where he met the love of his life, Janice ("Grammy"). After attending Southeast Missouri State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, Ron and Janice were married on February 4, 1961. Ron became a teacher, a skill that would define much of his life. He then became a leader in nursing home care, eventually owning multiple facilities and becoming President of the Missouri Nursing Home Association. Ron loved to race cars and fly as a licensed pilot. He sold his nursing home business in 1986 and became a home developer in South County. Ron was an outstanding businessman, but more importantly, after retiring, he took on his favorite role of grandfather, forming strong bonds with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Poppy."
On Saturday, June 4, 2022, a Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions - West County Chapel in Chesterfield, MO.
