Roy L. Smith

Roy L. Smith, age 61, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, January 8, 2024. He was born in Beardstown, Illinois on February 26, 1962 to Billy and Bonnie Smith (nee Edlen).

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Smith; loving children, Lindsay (Nick) Hovis, Nick (Katya) Smith, and Lauren Smith; treasured grandson, Jakob Smith; dear sisters, Julie (Mark) Ginster, Laura (Larry) Ruyle, and Elizabeth Smith. Also survived by other loving family members, many friends, and his cherished dog, Emmie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Smith; mother, Bonnie Jean Smith; and his precious dog, Milena.

Roy worked as an aircraft mechanic and inspector for several commercial airlines, most recently Southwest. In addition to working on aircrafts, Roy loved spending time working on his family farm in Naples, Illinois. Roy enjoyed traveling, and visited many destinations across the country with his wife and children. Besides his enjoyment in spending time with his family and friends, one of his greatest joys was time spent with his beloved dogs. Roy was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Friends and relatives may gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 am, and the service will begin at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roy's honor to the Humane Society of Missouri.
