Sandra Lea Karsten, age 72, of O Fallon, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 6, 1951 to Jasper and Cathryn Gianino (nee Modde).
Sandy was a talented and successful artist who loved sharing her various creations and knowledge with everyone. She never met a stranger and was able to touch the lives of many in profound ways with her optimism and unique perspective. She wanted to show us all how to skip through life, even through the tough spots. Her favorite pastimes were dining out, appreciating nature, treasure hunting, antiquing, serving on various teams with her church family, and laughing as much as possible with friends and family; and of course snuggling with her dog Dumplin'.
Sandy is survived by her two daughters, Roxanne (Tim) Quinn and Mandy (John) Shields; six grandchildren, Morgan, Brian, Ben, Adam, Nick, Brendan; four siblings, Mike (Mia) Gianino, Tina (Brad) Daniels, Pam Ernst, Tom (Amie) Gianino; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Irven Karsten Jr.; parents, Cathryn and Jasper Gianino; and brother, Greg Gianino.
Celebration of Life will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, March 9, 2024 with an ice cream social immediately following at The Crossing at Mid Rivers located at 6000 W Geneva Dr, O'Fallon, MO 63366.
