On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, Scott Collier (68) of St. Charles Missouri, passed away in the comfort of his home with his two daughters by his side. He was born in San Diego, CA, moved to Atlanta, GA at 6 years old and then finally landed in St. Louis, MO as a teenager. Scott was proceeded in death by his mother Betty Collier, father O.R. (Dick) Collier, and brothers Steve and Dave Collier and son Clint Collier. He is survived by his two daughters Cayce and Tara Collier, four grandsons Malachi Harris, Jordan Ming, Maddox Harris and Caiden Harris, brother Craig Collier and nephew Matt Collier. Scott held many titles in his life, from musician to golfer to business owner, but the title he was most proud of was father and grandfather. He loved nothing more than being an entertainer, the life of the party! Scott was a person who was kind, funny, and loved life as he chose to live it. He was successful in every way whether in his own interests or by supporting another's interests. He was always there to lend a helping hand no matter the circumstance. He rarely expressed anger and was always able to calm a situation down, whether it be through his humor or just his soothing tone. While Scott left us far too soon and suddenly, the impact he had on the lives of those surrounding him, whether it be in his professional or personal life, will be carried on for years to come. His legacy will be carried on by his two daughters Cayce and Tara as well as his four grandsons, Malachi, Jordan, Maddox and Caiden.
Scott was a successful business owner of 38 years. He got his start in the printing supply industry as a teenager working for Southwest Plastics under Hank Mercer. Once he learned the ins and outs of operating a lamination machine, he opened Artistic Laminations in the basement of his home in Des Peres, MO. After several years of quick growth, he moved into his permanent warehouse in Maryland Heights, MO. Scott was highly respected for his great customer service, quick turnaround and knowledge of industry.
Scott was one of the greatest musicians of all time. He had a one of kind talent in playing percussion, most specifically the congas. He brought an element to the music that was like no other. He was a member of multiple St. Louis area bands; Fantasy, Wild Cool and Swingin, Horns in the House, and several other Trios, and played on several recordings with Jim Manley and Jay Hayes.
Scott was also an avid golfer, you could kind of say obsessed. He was a proud owner of 6 golf sets. He enjoyed playing in charity events all over the US such as the DSASTL (Down Syndrome Assoc of St. Louis) annual tournament. He also followed his father's footsteps in tennis and played in a Tuesday night league for several years. He was a natural athlete.
Scott will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on March 18, 2023 at 1:00 - 6:00 pm at Webster Park in St. Charles. 2201 S River Rd, St. Charles, MO 63303.
In lieu of flowers, we would like to request a donation be made to the DSASTL organization in honor of Scott Collier.
