Sharon Marie Hopkins, a cherished soul born on January 22, 1949, in the vibrant heart of St. Louis, Missouri, passed peacefully from this world on September 30, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. She lived a life marked by unwavering devotion, a tireless work ethic, and a deep affection for those she loved.
For 40 enriching years, Sharon lent her talents to the Union Pacific Rail Road, where she earned a reputation as a diligent employee, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her career until her retirement in 2009. Her sense of humor and her helpful nature endeared her to countless colleagues and friends along the way. Yet, despite her professional endeavors, it was her family that remained her proudest achievement. She found joy in every moment shared with them, fiercely proud of her daughter Lauren and the memories they created together.
One will forever recall the laughter and love that filled the air during Lauren's wedding. Memories of dancing the night away linger sweetly in the hearts of both mother and daughter, a reminder of the joy that defined their relationship. Equally treasured are the serene moments spent at Lake Kincaid, encapsulating the essence of togetherness that Sharon and her husband, Bob Hopkins, often cherished.
Sharon's creativity found expression through her hobbies: she enjoyed sewing and thrived in the world of fashion and style as a licensed beautician, skillfully cutting hair and bringing smiles to those who sat in her chair. Shopping gave her a thrill, a simple pleasure that ignited sparks of joy. Her legacy is draped in the warmth she shared with all whose lives she touched, from playful banter to acts of kindness.
She was not only a beloved wife to Bob, a devoted mother to Lauren (John) Gilmore, and an adoring grandmother to Benjamin; but also a treasured sister to Barbara (Terry) Townley and Bob (Cheryl) Guinn, and aunt to Mindy (Eric) Webb. She is preceded in death by her dear mother, Marie Ellen Guinn, and sister, Sue Bright.
In lieu of plants or flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
