Shelby Lynn Welker

February 18, 1995 — May 14, 2021

Shelby Lynn Welker, age 26, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021.
She was born in St. Charles, Missouri on February 18, 1995 to Brad and Jamie Welker (nee Sellmeyer).

Shelby is survived by her Mother, Jamie W (Stephen) Colbert, Father, Brad A Welker, Brother, Isaak S Welker, Brother, Zachary N Welker, Brother, Caleb S Colbert, Grandmother, Rita Welker, Grandfather, Merle (Susan) Welker, Grandmother, Mary Sue (Charles King) Shelton, Great-Grandmother, Tommie Dee Welker, Uncle, Tony (Stephanie) Crocker, Aunt, Tammy Brotherton, Uncle, Brian Welker and she will be dearly missed by a host of other family members and friends.

Shelby had a heart for people - she genuinely cared about everyone she met. She loved her family dearly and she made sure to tell us often. She was a very nurturing and caring big sister to her three brothers. She was literally their second mom when they were little!

She loved animals, especially her cat Abel and her little fur-brother/dog, Pepper. They both brought her great comfort when she needed it. She was also a stuffed animal hoarder! She loved those animals as much as she did the real ones. Shelby aspired to be a veterinary technician and it was definitely on her goal sheet.

She was so creative and artistic. She had a passion for drawing and creating little keepsakes for us. She was also a very talented singer and musician. She played the flute and taught herself to play guitar and piano. She would perform for family, friends, and small venues, along with leading worship in church when she was just 14. Shelby had a unique style. She always wanted to be herself. She started doing her own hair when she was 12 (actually the first time she cut her own hair, she was 4!). It wasn't long after that she was doing friends' hair and makeup, much to the dismay of their parents!

Shelby also loved to serve others by cooking meals for them. The girl could cook-she got it from her mama!

Shelby had chosen to be an organ donor since she was 15. Even though we don't have her with us, parts of her still live on. Right now, her right kidney is in a 62-year-old man; her left kidney and pancreas are in a 32-year-old man; her liver is in a 47-year-old woman; her lungs are now breathing for a 56-year-old woman; and her heart is now beating in a 12-year-old little girl. We are very thankful she was able to give the gift of life to so many, and that her legacy of a caring and loving person lives on.

There aren't words to express how much she was loved and how much she will be missed. Please make any memorial donations to: Mid America Transplant Services at www.midamericatransplant.org and/or, if able, to please bring a small to medium size stuffed animal when you come to the memorial. We are collecting these to donate to those who need comfort as a tribute to Shelby.
