Shirley L. Ayers, née Blackwell, gracefully departed from this world on April 2, 2025, in Warrenton, Missouri, at the age of 93. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 8, 1931, Shirley was a beacon of warmth and positivity, renowned for her kind spirit and unwavering generosity. Her life was characterized by an infectious smile that brightened the hearts of those around her, and her endless optimism served as a source of encouragement to many.
As a devoted Jehovah's Witness, Shirley found great joy in reading the Bible and sharing meaningful scripture passages with those in her life. She was a true testament to hope and faith, always advocating for the power of prayer and positive thinking. Her friends and family will forever cherish the wisdom she imparted and the gentle reassurance she offered during both joyful and challenging times.
Shirley leaves behind her loving children: Gary (Terry Leap) Ayers, Josephine (Loyd) Caldwell, Steven (Nora) Ayers, and Karen (Gary) Friedeck. She adored her eight grandchildren, who brought her immense joy: Tonia (Jeff) Baker, Larry Caldwell, Christina (Justin) Wood, Melissa (David) Housman, Garrett (Nichole) Welker, Greg (Emily) Welker, Owen (Clarissa) Friedeck, and Dawson Friedeck. Her legacy continues with six great-grandchildren, Asia Wood, Logan Wood, Grace Baker, Jacob Baker, Ariena Friedeck, and Ryker Friedeck, all of whom carry a piece of her brightness within them. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sheila Ayers; as well as her beloved caregiver and friend, Reneé Pezold.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Ayers; her cherished son, Louis Ayers; her parents, Wesley and Alta Blackwell; and her dear siblings, Harold Blackwell and Helen Borick. Though she is no longer among us, her spirit, filled with kindness and love, will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all she touched.
Shirley L. Ayers will be remembered not just for the love she shared, but for the profound impact she had on so many lives, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and positivity that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
