Shirley Mae Burgoyne, age 90, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in Saint Charles, Missouri. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 10, 1932 to William and Retha Davis (nee Brown).
While she spent most of her time growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, she also spent time living in Tennessee with her Uncle Spurgen and his family. As a child she loved to roller skate, play jacks and pick up sticks, and spend time with her little brother Billy. After graduating from St. Bernard High School, she married her high school sweetheart Jerry in 1951 and became the wife of a naval officer and moved to Jacksonville, Florida. After the navy, she and Jerry moved to Warrensburg, Missouri where she worked diligently to help put her husband through college, both undergraduate and graduate school, at University of Central Missouri. After
graduation, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she raised five children and worked for McDonnell Douglas for
almost 30 years, first as an accountant and later as a planner in the engineering field, retiring in 1990.Shirley was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and relished her time with her beloved pets, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. In her later years, she worked several part-time jobs and spent many years volunteering as a companion for people with Alzheimer's disease. Shirley lived a fulfilled life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and mentor. She was a wonderful mother who was
always there for her children and was always a pillar of strength. Her favorite saying was, "Love you more."
Shirley is survived by her Three Daughters, Kimberly (Thomas) Heyl, Pamela (Mark) Lampe, Michelle Burgoyne; Son, Edward Burgoyne; Seven grandchildren, Alexandra (Ross Gilb) Heyl, Jonathan Lampe, Joshua (Brittany) Lampe, Jeremy (Gaylyne) Lampe, Tiffany Taylor, Stephanie Taylor, Jennifer Burgoyne; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Retha and William Davis; Son, Richard (Silas Eason) Burgoyne; and Brother, William Davis.
Funeral Ceremony will be 11:30 am Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at St.Peters Chapel.
