Shirley Guignard, a remarkable woman whose life was a tapestry woven with love, family, and cherished memories, passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of eighty-nine. Born on January 19, 1935, Shirley's journey began in Wentzville, Missouri where she embraced her upbringing on a farm, fostering a profound love for the simple joys of life.
A spirited soul, she was known for her passion for dancing, an activity that not only brought her joy but also illuminated the lives of those around her. Her vivacity and zest for life were mirrored in the warmth of her home, wherein she delighted in hosting holiday meals for her family, creating treasured moments and binds that would last a lifetime.
Shirley's legacy endures through her beloved family. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Richard Guignard, Robert (Lynn Martin) Guignard, and Randal Guignard. Her life blossomed further through the light of her four grandchildren—Elisha (Joe) Garner, Douglas Spegal, Justin Guignard, and Shelby (Stephen) Fischer— and one great-grandchild, Eli Spegal— each of whom carries forward her spirit and teachings.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Dehart; her mother, Laneva Dehart; her brother Robert (Bob) Dehart and her devoted husband, Richard Guignard. Each of these figures played an integral role in shaping the essence of who she became, and their absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
The community will gather to honor Shirley's memory at the Church of St. Cletus in St. Charles, Missouri. Visitation will take place on December 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass celebrating her life at 11:00 AM.
Shirley Guignard's life was a beautiful melody of love, laughter, and the bonds of family as well as a devoted catholic in the graces of the Holy Mother Catholic Church. Though she may have departed from this world, the legacy of her spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of those she cherished.
