Shirley Ann Lohmeyer, age 85, of Hazelwood, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was born in Quincy, Illinois on March 26, 1936 to Robert and Lena Jackson (nee Stice).
Shirley was married to the love of her life, Robert Lohmeyer, for 67 incredible years. Beloved mother of three children, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, she will be greatly missed by all the family as well as the abundance of friends and acquaintances who knew her.
In retired life Shirley and Bob's ritual of morning coffee on the deck watching and listening to the variety of birds, and also offering a prayer for the pilot and passengers of planes flying overhead, was all part of their beautiful, caring life together. Evenings were most often time together relaxing in their double recliner, their hands held one unto the other.
Shirley was a vibrant person who lit up the room with her smile, joy, effervescent love for her husband, family and friends. It was impossible not to smile in her presence.
Shirley was Head Cashier at Grandpa Pigeons for many years; a local general store with barrels of miscellaneous commodities that made it a shopping experience. She loved to sing at home, in the car, and in the church choir-often as a soloist. Sometimes she joined Pastor Potter at weddings/funerals to share prayer via her gift of song. She also loved participating in church plays during various holy seasons. Camping and trout fishing with her family, spending time in Branson, and traveling with her husband (sailing from South Hampton, England to New York via the Queen Elizabeth was amazing) and being with friends (which included her bowling league teammates) are some of the other many adventures of her thoughtful life.
Many knew Shirley as the "Queen of Clean;" a title that needs no explanation. No matter the chore or activity, Shirley was committed to it wholeheartedly. Maybe that's one reason she held fast to the motto: "When we're in the car, we're on vacation" which translates to "We can eat out!"
Thank you for blessing so many of us with your love and goodness dear Shirley. You are in our hearts forever.
Shirley is survived by her Husband, Robert Lohmeyer, Daughter, Debra Ann (Tricia McMahon) Lohmeyer, Daughter, Karen Diane (Gary) Sexton, Son, Robert G. (Jeanne) Lohmeyer, Jr., Grandchildren, Shawn (Randi) Sexton, Dean Sexton, Bob Lohmeyer, Joe (Ellen) Lohmeyer, Heather (Eddie Estrada) Sexton, Sabrina Sexton, Abigail Lohmeyer, Hannah Lohmeyer, Great-Grandchildren, Kennedy Sexton, Gillian Sexton, Barrett Sexton, Whitney Sexton, Myles Smith, Nevie Estrada, Allison Lohmeyer, Mia Lohmeyer, Katie Lohmeyer, Brother, Everett Jackson, Sister, Sharon Caldwell and she will be dearly missed by a host of other family members and friends.
