Shirley Marie Saunders

Shirley Marie Saunders, age 83, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. She was born in Trumann, Arkansas on July 8, 1940 to Claude and Ethel Rundel (nee Edington).

Shirley always cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and tended them like a garden. She was retired from civil service with the US Army. Her rebellious and adventurous spirit served her well as an active member with the Red Hat Society and founding member of the Shirley Club Missouri Chapter. In her spare time, she enjoyed socializing over games of Rummikub weekly, served as an election judge, took care of her house and plants, tamed a riding lawnmower, learned technical wizardry and became a one-time co-pilot. She was always up to giving something a try at least once and tended to her family and friends with love, compassion and great patience.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Kevin L. (Gail) Boker, William A. (Pam) Boker, Larry (Nancy) Saunders, Gary Saunders; Granddaughters, Melania (Milli) Boker, Christine, Angie, Melissa; Grandsons, Justin Boker, Dylan Boker, Hunter Boker, Jason, Brian; 11 Great Grandchildren and a host other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Billy A. Saunders; her Father, Claude Rundel; her Mother, Ethel Rundel; and her Siblings, Danny, Nadine, Ardel, Mack, and Trecy.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:30pm at Newcomer (837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Peters, MO 63376). Eulogy to begin at 2:30pm.
