Sonja K. Carter, age 67, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She was born in Flint, Michigan on August 1, 1954 to Albert and Darlas Hicks (nee Eaton).
Sonja was a committed daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother throughout her life. Her passions throughout her life included: traveling, cooking, reading, piano, mathematical puzzles, and visiting the lakes and rivers of Missouri with her husband. They also loved cruising and exploring the Caribbean islands together. Everyone that had the rare opportunity to really know her realized she was the most caring, generous, and loyal human being they would ever know.
Sonja is survived by her husband, David L. Carter; her daughter, Alena (Craig) Ahrens; her granddaughter, Elle J. Ahrens; her step-grandchildren, Sarah E. Ahrens and Blake P. Ahrens; her parents, Albert J. and Darlas M. Hicks; her step-daughters, Krista M. (Chris) Cantrell, Lisa M. (Billy) Machelett, and Tisha R. (Gary) Frankenberg. She will be dearly missed by many other step-grandchildren, family members and friends.
A celebration of her life will take place in the near future.
