Stephen Brown

March 23, 1934 — May 27, 2020

Stephen Brown, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2020. He was a loving husband, devoted father of two daughters and cherished "Papa" to two grandsons. Steve was born on March 23, 1934 to Stephen and Ruth (Albright) Brown in Washington Court House, OH. In February of 1957 he interrupted his college path to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, OK until his discharge. On December 21, 1957 he married Janice Taylor in Sturgis, MI.

Steve received his degree in Civil Engineering from Tri State College (now Trine University) in Angola, IN. He enjoyed his career which involved years of professional projects in Indianapolis and St. Louis. They raised two daughters. His leisure time hobbies included travel, model railroad, radio-controlled model planes, woodworking and spending treasured time with his grandsons, Braden and Quinn. He also enjoyed the furry companionship of their little Boston, Nettie.

Steve and Jan have been active members of Dardenne Presbyterian Church for decades. He was a retired Presbyterian Elder.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, daughters Kemlyn Mardis (Randall) and Jodi Purcell (Christopher), grandsons Braden and Quinn Purcell, sister Kathleen Burchett (Carl), sisters-in-law Kendra Magnus and Terri Magnus, one nephew, two nieces and their families.

The family thanks the loving staff at McClay Senior Care and the comforting team at Heartland Hospice. Both provided exemplary care, compassion and expertise which was a blessing.

Burial will be in the Dardenne Presbyterian Cemetery following a memorial service at a future date.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Dardenne Presbyterian Church TREE OF LIFE (7400 South Outer 364, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368) or Heartland Hospice (1097 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, MO).
