Steven James Derby, a beloved son, partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, departed from this world on April 18, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on May 15, 1965, in St. Louis, Steven brought joy and laughter to everyone around him, leaving an indelible mark on his family and friends.
From an early age, Steven displayed a rich sense of humor and a gentle disposition that would remain a cornerstone of his personality throughout his life. His kindness was matched only by his dependability; he was always there for those in need, lending a compassionate ear or a helping hand. Those who knew Steven will remember him as a loving individual who could light up any room with his presence.
Steven's educational journey took place at McCluer High School, where he began to cultivate friendships that would last a lifetime. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing moments spent riding his motorcycle and playing with his cherished grandchildren. The joy on his grandchildren's faces while spending time with them was a testament to the loving grandfather he was.
His love extended beyond his immediate family. He is survived by his life partner, Kimberly Derby, who shares in the treasured memories they created together. Steven's legacy continues through his children, Kayla (Ryan) Meyer and Steven Derby, along with his adoring grandchildren, Cameron Meyer, Mackenzie Derby, Macie Meyer, and Jace Meyer, who were the apples of his eye. He also leaves behind cherished siblings, including his sister, Sharon (Darin Arnold) Azzara, and brothers, Denny (Danielle) Hawkins and Rick (Susie) Cook, all of whom he deeply loved.
Steven joins his parents Robert and Betty Derby and Denny Hawkins and Rodie Hawkins in eternal rest, along with his late brother Robert Derby, who welcomed him with open arms.
