Thomas W. Ackerman, age 75, of O'Fallon, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 7, 1947 to James and Helen Ackerman (nee Meyerkord).
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Nancy Ackerman; children, Bryan (Michelle) Ackerman, Andrew (Tracy) Ackerman, and Amy (John) Harrington; seven grandsons, Brendan Ackerman, Cameron Ackerman, Gage Ackerman, Grayson Ackerman, Drew Ackerman, Dane Ackerman, and Maxwell Harrington; three granddaughters, Sr. Mariana Joy, Kathryn Ackerman, and Zoee Harrington; great-grandson, Brantley Ackerman; sister, Sandy (the late Patrick) McDermott; niece, Jennifer McDermott; nephew, Scott McDermott; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Ackerman; and brother, James Ackerman, Jr..
Thomas served his country with honor in the United States Navy, on the USS Independence Fighter Squadron VF-41. He worked as a sign painter for over 20 years, after his sign painting career he worked on the Weldon Spring Remedial Action Project. He later went on to finish his career working for the City of Jennings. Thomas was also an avid golfer, playing every chance he got during his retirement. He cherished his family and took pride raising his children and watching his Grandkids grow up. He loved nature and always marveled in God's creations. He was just a good and grateful man who recognized the miracles in the ordinary and always strived to do what was right.
