Thomas Oviatt

October 2, 1944 — April 21, 2022

Thomas Harold Oviatt, age 77, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Saint Peters, Missouri. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 2, 1944 to Bud and Bevis Payne (nee Burrows).

Tom spent his youth in Salt Lake City where he attended Skyline High School. He then spent two years serving a church mission to the central states. He worked several years for Utah Power and Light and then transferred to Missouri where he worked for Emerson Electric Corp. until his retirement.

Tom loved working with his hands and helping others at the drop of a hat. His passons ranged from woodworking, showing horses, fly fishing, art, restoring old cars, and cooking (especially Thanksgiving dinner). His greatest love was working on the farm with his horses. Tom always had projects going and had no problem starting another one, even though some never got finished.

Tom loved all sports but was a true fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues . Tom's laughter was infectious and he was able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. When Tom found out about his declining health a few years ago he always took each day in stride. He always looked for the positive in life and enjoyed spending time with his family and receiving phone calls from his children.

Thomas is survived by his eternal friend and wife, Kathryn Jeanne Oviatt; Mother, Janet Payne; Daughters, Cindy (Randy) Rumney, Tanya Taylor, Melinda Payne, Patrice (Danny) Barlow, Kelly (Shane) Miller, Stacey (Brett) Bevill; Sons, Justin Bandley, David (Rayann) Bandley, Travis Bandley; Brothers, Michael (Heidi) Payne and Matt Payne and 21 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Harold Junior Payne, Warren Ellis Oviatt and Bevis Alta Burrows.
